On June 14, Falun Gong practitioners held a march and rally in Flushing, New York. More and more local Chinese came to support Falun Gong and the campaign to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Even some pro-communist men, who organized, besieged and attacked Falun Gong practitioners in the past weeks, are now seeking ways to deny their relationship with the CCP.
According to sources, pro-communist men claimed 2,000 people would come to oppose the rally, but only a few turned up on the day.
During the rally, Falun Gong spokesperson Erping Zhang condemned the CCP's direct involvement of instigating violence and hatred in American society, stating how this illegal action has shocked the American public; the Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Security Bureau, Congress, and police have all been very attentive of the events happening in Flushing. "The security departments of many other countries have contacted me to launch similar investigations as well," added Zhang.
According to sources, the Chinese Consulate notified many Chinese communities to come to the rally, but a majority of them did not. Some were believed to have taken the money offered from the Consulate, and still chose not to go.
On the day of the rally, a man approached an Epoch Times reporter requesting to be interviewed. He has been suspected as one of the leaders in organizing the mob in attacking Falun Gong adherents everyday in the past month. The man said he just came out to observe what was happening, and told the reporter that he knew most of the troublemakers to be illegal immigrants from mainland China and some were from out of town.
Another man, who is also suspected of being a mob organizer, came forward and asked to be interviewed on the same day. He stated that the Chinese regime organized the harassment and attack in the past month.
At the rally, Zhang warned the mob that many local Flushing Chinese has provided evidence about how the Communist regime's overseas espionage institute bribes the mob participants. Falun Gong practitioners are also collecting evidence regarding this matter.
According to many Flushing residents, most of the mob organizers are involved in illegal businesses; some have criminal records, and many keep long term and close relationships with the Chinese Consulate and corrupt officials from China. Some individuals are involved in illegal activities such as money laundering, fraudulent foreign exchange, prostitution, pirating, narcotics, etc. These people boss around the marketplace, and some carry guns with them all the time. They rely on the Chinese Consulate to develop their influence and manpower.
Chen Yonglin, a former Chinese diplomat in Australia, has stated that the task work of the CCP's overseas consulates and embassies have always been intimately related to the local Chinese mafia.
In some cases, there is direct involvement in the security work when high level CCP officials visit from abroad. In 1997, Tao Siju, a former Chinese Public Security Minister, acknowledged the mafia in an interview in Hong Kong stating, "There are patriotic mafia groups."
