CALGARY, Alberta—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular played its final show at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Friday evening, closing to a standing ovation.
"It was just awe inspiring and I am just so glad I came," said Betty Bielguth, a nurse.
Bielguth said the deepest impression she took away from the performance was one of hope.
"There's hope for the world, and awareness is really the only way. I am just in awe that this is coming on stage — it gives me hope for humanity."
Bielguth said she was particularly impressed by the songs, "because the words came onto the screen. The dances just gave me a feeling of peace and harmony in myself, but when I saw the words then the words kind of struck me most."
"'We've waited thousands of years' and finally there's hope, and we just have to find the truth within. It is just so amazing and as I say it gives me hope for humanity that the word is being spread."
She said the message imparted by the Spectacular was that of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and also of awareness.
"The truth will set us free — the truth and compassion and forbearance — that is what will set us free. And the good thing is that the awareness will win. The awareness will, at some point."
Bielguth also felt that the show portrayed the situation in China today.
"And for me the message was right now, the struggle in China because it was a Chinese performance. From what I could see there is a movement of people wanting to believe the truth in themselves."
