MILAN, Italy—Lorendana Grandi, a journalist for an online publication called La Voce D'Italia, had already written a review of the Chinese Spectacular even before attending the show at Milan's Allianz Theater on Tuesday.
Grandi wrote the review after seeing a short video of the Spectacular on TV. She said the beauty of the costumes and excellent choreography she saw in the TV clip were "absolutely confirmed tonight after seeing the show."
"Many compliments to the company, not only to the company on stage but I also thought of the company backstage because all these costume changes and also the hair with jewels. I can only imagine how many people are backstage to be ready with everything."
Grandi said she was especially moved by two pieces: Nymphs of the Sea and The Power of Awareness.
"The one under the sea…with the blue waterfall — incredible, it was an incredible idea, and the one with the little child, because it tells the real moment in real-life China. At this moment, we don't know what's happening so I think it's important to let people know what China was and what China is. And which problems people living there have. "It's very important to show how the country was, that China is not what it was, it is something different. It was something more peaceful, always with a king or emperor, but that's not the situation it has now.
"It's a good idea, between the wonderful choreographies, the costumes, that everything goes well. But it is important to show what is not so good also."
Grandi praised the "high professionalism" of the Spectacular.
"There are artists performing, not only dancing but also theatrically. It's good, absolutely good. Also, compliments for people working on the computers — the graphics on the screen were absolutely great."
She said she hoped the Spectacular would return next year and remain longer.
"I really hope you have success in the future in the world and if you come back next year, we will be here waiting for you. I hope not for just two days, but for more days because it's a very, very great show. Absolutely, many compliments."
