CANBERRA, Australia—Audience member Lucy Liu said the Chinese Spectacular made her "very proud of her country" after attending Canberra's opening show on Friday night.

"It was excellent, very well performed," Ms Liu said at the Canberra Theatre after the show. "[I'm]very proud of my countryman!"

When asked what her favourite part was, she said: "I think all of it actually, especially the last part with the drummers — that was brilliant, fantastic. But all the performances are fantastic."

Ms Liu particularly liked the vocal performances and said she felt they had a strong message. "The singing quality was fantastic — very well performed," she said. "It was very strong and very potent. I really feel a thing about the song."

Her friend Volet Carolan agreed. "I really felt the song. You can really feel it when you listen to it; it is very simple," she said. "They are very good — very good performances."

Ms Carolan said she had seen some Chinese performances in the Philippines, but none were as good as the Spectacular. "It was very entertaining, very colourful and I really liked the costume," she said.

"You can feel that the dancers are experts in what they do. They are very energetic and they have beautiful figures. I can really feel that they have performed a lot of shows around the world. They are experts and I think I need to tell my friends to come and see them next year."

Ms Carolan said she felt a deep meaning behind the Spectacular. "I understood the concept that everybody came from heaven," she said.

"Yeah, I liked that;it was like what I expected. It's very beautiful, very very nice."
