BUCHAREST, Romania—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular has delighted audiences as it continues its run at Bucharest's National Theatre. Mihaela Adam, an accountant who attended Tuesday's show, is no exception.
Adam said the show left her with a "pleasant impression. I liked it very much. I can't wait to see the show next year."
Adam said she enjoyed the dancing and traditional Chinese costumes the most, adding that she had heard about the attempts of the Chinese Embassy to pressure the theater to cancel the performance.
"I heard that there was a little 'revolt' on the Chinese Embassy's part because they didn't want the show to go on. I am sorry for that. I firmly maintain that this show must continue, for the sake of all those around us, not only of those who support the shows."
She felt strongly that there was no rationale behind the embassy's pressure and described the show as, "very beautiful and the message is so clear and it touches the hearts of the people."
Adam also felt that the show had parallels to Romanian culture, "I liked the show very much because there were elements that can be found also in Romanian culture, and I mean especially to religion."
"The Truth—which is the fundamental … or elements like 'you found God again, you are at peace with yourself, you can have access to the afterlife.' Things like this."
She also mentioned that she's had little exposure to Chinese culture and "that is why I liked the show so much."
She concluded by saying that if she was to describe the Spectacular to a friend her words would be, "Please come to the show!"
