BRISBANE, Australia─Charles and Debra Bowhman drove all the way from Coffs Harbour, in New South Wales, a six hour drive, to take their daughter Ming D to see the Spectacular at the matinee session in Brisbane, April 8.
They were very glad they had done so saying: "It has been just wonderful. We have had a great time."
"We loved the drummers. They were really good. You could really feel them vibrate through your soul. They were beautiful to watch.
"The girls are just glorious, and of course the singers as well.
Ming D, meanwhile had her own interpretation. "Ming is enjoying it thoroughly. I think she has decided to be a dancer. She has been up there swirling around ever since intermission," Mrs Bowhman said.
Mrs Bowhman explained that Ming D was particularly close to Chinese culture as she had been born there. As parents they were very keen to learn about Ming D's cultural heritage and to keep Ming D in touch with it.
"From listening we are gaining knowledge as we go. Ming was adopted from China so it's very important to find any wonderful cultural events that we can take her to and this was just a perfect opportunity, and as you can see she was loving it.
Mrs Bowhman said Ming D had not moved during the show, but she noted that there were particular scenes that she resonated with.
"She really liked the drummer and I saw her really get right in, taking notice when the girl got taken up to heaven ['The Risen Lotus Flower'] That was really nice. I mean she hasn't taken her eyes off the stage yet, so I think it's all hitting home to her."
Ming D nodded and added that she had really liked the "first one" ['Descent of the Celestial Kings'].
"When all the clouds and everything were coming out across the stage," she said.
Mrs Bowhman said: "It is just a wonderful experience for her to see. I am sure she will remember it."
