BERLIN—For Silke Kissling, a speech and language therapist, the performance on Sunday at the International Conference Center was a discovery:
"For me it is especially interesting to see what kind of old traditions China has. It is very foreign to me but, nevertheless, beautiful. It brings a piece of this country closer to me. Europe and Asia are really far apart from each other; also culturally they are far apart from each other.
I am glad that my friend has brought me here today, " she stated.
"During my free time," Ms. Kissling continued, "I often play music and like to dance. I know that Chinese dancing has lots of expression; it has its own language, and that I find very exciting."
Unne Aschenbrenner, Manager of a nursery school, mentioned: "The colors were wonderful, very graceful, very bright colors, very enjoyable music."
"I enjoyed the [Mongolian] bowl dance and the water nymphs the most," she continued.
"The rhythm and the effects of the process were very beautiful," she explained, "with the fans, the drums and the dance with the bowls—and those movements! It was very harmonious."
"Before this event," Ms. Aschenbrenner concluded, "I did not know much about Chinese culture."
