HAMBURG, Germany—Monika Orth, senior accounting manager at a Hamburg Tourism office, took "a fantastic feeling" home after watching the Chinese Spectacular. The show was performed in the Hamburg Theater at the Marientor. She shared that she liked the show very much and that it was a great medley of scenes. She was especially surprised by the colorfulness, in a positive way.

"I especially enjoyed the gracefulness of the dancers, which emanated throughout the show. I was also impressed by the way they conveyed their stories. I especially liked the scene 'Lady in the Moon'. It was very graceful and charming. It was the full story, told in a relatively short time, and even the Western audience—the Germans in the audience—could follow the story very well from beginning to the end. There was nothing there that didn't open up the mind to cultural differences."

When asked how well the 5000-year old culture of China was reflected in the show, she answered, "That is relatively difficult for me to judge, because I do not have a particular profound knowledge about Chinese art. Today, I was inspired and maybe have learned a little more than would have been possible in my everyday life."

"In any event, I am taking something with me. I am taking very deep impressions with me that have enriched me. I gladly recommend the Chinese Spectacular."

For future audiences of the Chinese Spectacular, Ms. Orth gives them a piece of advice: "It is important to know that one experiences dancing and music, that a culture is presented in this manner, and that it clearly distinguishes between what one experiences in vaudevilles… what one sees very often here in the west. That is important to know. I personally have a fantastic feeling after this show. Vaudeville is more like sports to me, of course very graceful sports. Tonight, I felt more as they actually wanted to bring culture closer to me, [rather] than [just being] artistic."
