TAICHUNG, Taiwan—Wu Hong-zhang, former head of Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra, was so impressed by the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular when he saw it last year that he decided come back this year.
After the show in Taichung on March 11, Wu said that his heart was moved because what the Spectacular expresses is not only the grace and beauty of the performances but also a profound spiritual meaning.
"I had tears in my eyes during the whole performance last year. I felt the programs this year were well-knit. The entire designation, lights, sets are just perfect. Most important of all is the rhythm the actors conveyed in their dancing." said Wu, a tenor who trained in Italy.
Wu said the Spectacular truly showed the depth and beauty of the China's ancient culture.
"The Chinese culture is so good, so beautiful, and so profound. It is infinite in the spiritual level."
"Divine Performing Arts expresses the most beautiful Chinese traditional culture. It is not only beautiful in the dancing and singing, but it contains the beauty of our culture. We should let all people know the beauty of the Chinese traditional culture and continue to maintain our cultural standard to that of a global village."
Wu also commented on pieces in the Spectacular that touched on the Chinese regime's oppression of human rights.
"I think it's quite meaningful to tell people the inhuman treatment through such a performance. I believe all people should get along with one another in an equal, friendly, and loving environment, not to mention the Chinese people. We should work hard towards this aim without fear. We should strive for human rights and let the international community know how much we need their support."
