NEW YORK—The Divine Performing Arts' presentation of the Chinese New Year Splendor at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Friday night seemed to Professor Frank Augustin a positive sharing of Chinese culture. Professor Augustin is Professor of Dance and Dance Program Director at Adelphi University.
"The dancing, the singing, the amalgamation of reaching out of Chinese culture to the rest of the world, and rest of the world opening to Chinese culture, which is an evolution. This is positive and it would be good for anyone–for the world," said Augustin.
When asked about restoring traditional Chinese arts and culture, which is a goal of the Divine Performing Arts Company, Professor Augustin mused, "Yes certainly, the values and the traditions that were repressed ...which is why I think it's important, the evolution of it all blending together, the homogenization of all artists. Artists don't have countries, artists don't have boundaries, politicians do." He continued, "A belief in social values, people who believe strongly in social values that don't quite blend with another border. But artists don't really have borders so they are sort of innocent in all this and I'm happy to see this kind of coverage."
The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.DivinePerformingArts.org . The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Splendor.
