NEW YORK—The Chinese New Year Splendor at Radio City Music Hall presented by Divine Performing Arts impressed the audience on Wednesday night. People from all ages and various backgrounds attended the show.

Fran Stokes and her family also attended the show via the recommendation of her daughter's teacher. Ingrid Stokes, who is four years old, especially enjoyed the Spectacular. "I like the part with the red dressed girl," exclaimed Ingrid while dancing around, in reference to a specific performance. She and her sister Abigail, who is 9 years old, have been taking dance classes and so they were very interested in seeing the show.

Their dance teacher also knew someone who was in the show and made a recommendation to the family. They work at the Constitution Works Project and also have lots of contact with Chinese people.

Among those in the audience were Rosa and Tom Taveras, who were impressed and intrigued by the some of the performances and inner meanings of Chinese culture.

"It was highly entertaining, it was visually stunning, very enjoyable, thought provoking—it was a good night."

Furthermore, Mrs. Taveras works as a program manager and drew some inspiration from the Spectacular.

"It can make us think a little about what we're doing, and enhance some of our programming."

However, she felt the most positive aspect of the show was the focus on truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance because she felt that they are universal concepts, and that people need to safeguard them.

Divine Performing Arts' Chinese New Year Splendor will continue at Radio City Music Hall through Feb. 9 with evening and afternoon performances.
