SAN DIEGO—Ms. Shi Guixiang travelled from Beijing to visit her daughter and son-in-law in the U.S. Her daughter purchased tickets for the whole family to see the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the California Center for the Arts in San Diego on January 15. After the performance, Ms. Shi joyfully declared that she will bring the show's message back to Beijing.
"I feel so happy today that we attended the Chinese Spectacular show," said Shi. "The show is very well done. It makes us feel very proud of our Chinese heritage.
"I will bring the Global Chinese New Year Spectacular DVDs and materials back to Beijing and give them to my relatives and friends," Shi added. "I will share with them my experience of watching this show in U.S. and let them know how successful such Chinese shows are in this country."
When asked which program is her favorite, Shi replied, "They are all very good. However, I like the Tang drum performance very much. It is very powerful. All the dances are very good, especially the one featuring the Qing Dynasty princess. It is very elegant. All the songs are very good as well. They possess such great meaning. The backdrop is fabulous. It is really fantastic."
Shi added that besides the exciting Tang Dynasty drum performance, The Loyalty of Yue Fei segment was able to nobly portray the brave soul and courage of the Chinese people.
In comparison to other performances she has seen, Shi believes the Divine Performing Arts show is particularly graceful and thrilling.
Retired over ten years, Shi practices Chinese fan dancing in her spare time.
The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Divine Performing Arts shows that will perform in over 60 cities worldwide in 2008. To find a show near you, please visit www.bestchineseshows.com.
