NEW YORK—Santa may have his reindeer, but if he sees this holiday offering he might consider a faster travel method—something with scales and a tail—on his big night.
Christmas entertainment in the Big Apple and other select cities will not be the same-old, same-old when Holiday Wonders comes to town. New dances, singable melodies from acclaimed vocalists, and fabulous costumes and backdrops are sure to dazzle and delight anyone wanting something a little different for the holidays.
New Tang Dynasty TV's Holiday Wonders show will once more delight and dazzle audiences at the Beacon Theater. And for the first time the show travels to Charlotte N.C., Greensboro N.C., Miami, and Tampa, FL.

Ultimately, it's the stories staged to perfection that keep people coming back. Audiences can step into an ancient dynasty with a loving couple or thrill to Eastern drums. Not all of the dance dramas depict a legend or fairy tale. People will see a little bit of themselves in the characters. One or more of the dance dramas might even touch the heart of a modern teenager.
Promotion Director Elizabeth Wang says the program's colorful costumes and beautiful songs will brighten the season's dark nights. "The stories and dances educate viewers about a time long past, but more than that, they delight. This is a show for all ages."
Select shows are also accompanied by the dulcet, powerful tones of the Divine Performing Arts Orchestra.
With its variety show format, Holiday Wonders grounds itself in the best of traditional Chinese culture, including all-new dances from some of China's many ethnic groups, and a live orchestra that blends classical Western music with Chinese folk music.
Lighting designer Pei-Yi Huang uses lighting to enhance the drama. Formerly lighting designer at Taiwan's National University, she designs and directs the movement, adjustment, and focus of the stage lighting to achieve a heightened dramatic effect.
The show celebrates the biggest holiday of the year with a rare opportunity to experience (or re-experience) the wonders of Chinese culture firsthand.
Committed to bringing about a renaissance of traditional Chinese culture worldwide, Divine Performing Arts presents each of its pieces with pure integrity and beauty. Wang says that what you see on stage is guaranteed to be authentic and true. Each movement of the dancers, note of music, and lush backdrop echoes this sentiment.
The main performance season of Divine Performing Arts begins during the winter with this exuberant holiday show perfect for the family. This will soon be followed by Chinese New Year shows around the world.
Best of New York magazine says "the shows are at once elegant and entertaining—a perfect way for the whole family to celebrate the New Year together."
With performers from around the globe, this is a rare chance to experience the eclectic charms of ancient China at your doorstep. Past guest artists have included performers such as harpist Seika Dong, the Empire Brass Quintet, and renowned clarinetist Giora Feidman. The show offers a potpourri of programs sure to delight young and old theatergoers alike. Featuring extraordinary dancers, singers, and musicians, this vibrant and vivacious celebration of authentic Chinese history is perfect for adding spice to your seasonal calendar.
Holiday Wonders may not send a dragon to the North Pole but will delight anyone who wants thrilling entertainment. And who knows? Santa might even pay a visit!
The Epoch Times is proud to sponsor Holiday Wonders at the Beacon Theater and other venues. As of the 11-15-07 print edition, the Beacon Theater is not affected by the strike. For ticket and performance information, check out the website at http://bestchineseshows.com.
