Following New Tang Dynasty Television's (NTDTV) International Chinese Classical Dance Competition held in July this year, a Global Chinese Singing Competition to be staged this November is the next offering in a series of global competitions focusing on Chinese arts and a commitment to "resurrect" authentic Chinese culture.
The current list of planned NTDTV competitions include—World Martial Arts Competition, World Chinese Violin Competition, World Chinese Piano Competition, World Chinese Games, World Chinese Cuisine Competition (Szechuan cuisine, Northern China cuisine, Cantonese cuisine, Shandong cuisine and Huaiyang cuisine), World Traditional Chinese Costumes Design Competition, World Chinese Realistic Oil Painting and World Chinese Photography Competition.
"NTDTV has been committed to the resurrection of authentic Chinese culture," says an NTDTV press statement. "It includes two layers—purely benevolent cultural connotations and purely beautiful cultural forms."
"NTDTV will resurrect belief or moral connotations carried by authentic Chinese culture, including respect for heaven, the value of virtue, the cultivation of the mind to be kind and fine virtues such as benevolence, loyalty, courtesy, wisdom and trust. NTDTV will also showcase Chinese culture via a variety of beautiful forms."
Chinese traditional, folk and classic songs; theme songs from TV drama and movies; arias and artistic songs form the content for the competition with the requirement that all vocal works do not contain communist culture or glorification of the Communist Party.
NTDTV expressed its confidence in promoting a complete resurrection of authentic Chinese culture in the future and bringing about a real renaissance of the Chinese nation through the aims of the competition "to foster cultural exchange and promote traditional vocal arts of pure authenticity, pure goodness and pure beauty."
