NEW YORK—Some of Brooklyn's most well-known areas got a start on a much needed facelift last week.

Assemblyman Karim Camara (43rd Assembly, Brooklyn) joined CitySolve and the Crown Heights North Association to kick off a major graffiti cleaning project along Norstrand Avenue last Tuesday.

The project is designed to clean 400 buildings along a 25 block stretch that includes Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights and Flatbush.

Storefront entrances, park benches and other surfaces will be cleaned of graffiti and repainted in the project. There will also be regular maintenance of all graffiti-ridden surfaces.

"Research has shown that rapid response is an effective deterrent to keeping graffiti out of our communities," said Assemblyman Camara. "For the next year, CitySolve will quickly remove graffiti as soon as it appears."

Camara added that the initiative is part of a long-term commitment to economic development in the community.

CitySolve is a Brooklyn based company that has been in business for ten years.
