QUEENS, NEW YORK—With nearly 30 submissions vying for the title of Master Magician of the New York Hall of Science's Video Contest, on June 26, the winner of Magic: the Science of Illusion was announced .
Attaining the title Master Magician of the New York Hall of Science and receiving a $50 gift certificate to the Hall's science gift shop, the producer of Christopher Yang's video was declared winner.
Because of a tie, judges chose the top four videos and put them online for viewers to vote on.
The four finalists were: Christopher Yang (age 4), Graham Brown and Max Pastor (ages 12), Milo Roth (age 8), and Aleda Rosenblum Katz (age 6).
In the winning video, Yang presented a purple balloon which was inflated without using your mouth.
Graham and Max's video was about a clear liquid that turned blue every time the vial was shook due to oxygen exposure, and then became clear again due to glucose.
Milo was able to turn a limp piece of rope into something straight and awed the audience with how an empty bag contained three different boxes.
Aleda mixed an assortment of liquids such as oil with substances like baking soda, which added together to produce flowing "lava."
Magic: the Science of Illusion is an exhibition to demonstrate how magic and science can relate to everyday life.
