Pacta Sunt Servanda is a base for the entire system of Roman Law. It is the Latin for 'agreements must be kept'. It is a basic principle of civil law and international law.

Thanks to that rule we were able to create a society a civilization that was formed by this simple principle. To make sure of that lets try to imagine any group of people, a community, or a society where nobody respects any agreement. As you can imagine it would be impossible to create any relationship between people as what we need to build it is a minimum of trust. The question is then, where to find trust if nobody respects any agreement, when nobody honours what he promised?

That is a precise description of the situation that is happening now in Europe after the Lisbon Treaty referendum in Ireland. As all of us know, citizens of Ireland refused the Lisbon Treaty which means that a new 'super country' called the European Union cannot be created.

The basic agreement officially presented by European Commission said that every single country of the European Union has to agree on that slightly changed 'European Constitution' which was refused by French and Dutch voters four years ago. In order for the Lisbon Treaty to take effect the deal was all twenty seven European states would ratify it.

What surprised me was what happened just after the outcome of the referendum was announced. The majority of European leaders, and some Irish leaders, expressed the opinion that we shouldn't really care about what Ireland decided and that process of ratification of the Lisbon Treaty should continue. But as I said before the principle agreement said that all twenty seven countries have to agree on that document. As Ireland disagreed there in no consensus. If considering the above fact some of the European countries for example, Germany and Belgium, would still attempt to bring into life the Lisbon treaty it will be done against the principles they set by themselves.

That is very ominous sign for all of us. If something starts from deception, how is it going to end? It is quite possible that it would end up with violence and corruption as you cannot build anything good on deception. Sooner or later all lies will come to light and then all the protests will have to be suppressed with even more radical methods. In this situation we should be very vigilant. We have to wake up from the lethargy. Don't let ourselves be the seamen who were decoyed by the Sirens' enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast.

I hope that at some stage European citizens will finally take back the initiative and will not let European bureaucrats control their countries their nations and their life. We live in very crucial moment of history and we are in charge, so remember, you the people are the pilots in control and it is up to you in what kind of world you will wake up in tomorrow.
