The world-wide escalation of the Chinese communist party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong has reared its ugly head in Ireland. In the last two weeks Falun Gong practitioners living in Ireland have recieved death threats and physical intimidation.
I spoke with Mr Ming Zhao an Irish citizen whose belief in Truthfulness Compassion and Tolerance (Falun Dafa principles) once saw him arrested and placed in a forced labour camp in China for twenty two months and he explained what was happening.
Mr Zhao returned to Ireland in 2002 after a high profile campaign for his rescue by the Irish government. Little did he realise that he would once again be persecuted for his beliefs, this time, Ming claims, by the overseas influence of the CCP via a network of underhanded stasi-esque tactics.
Mr Zhao said, "We Falun Gong practitioners in Ireland come here to protest outside the Chinese Embassy at the violence being mobilised by the Chinese communist regime in the overseas communities, including the Chinese community in Ireland."
Mr Zhao explained how only last week while handing out information about the persecution of Falun Gong in Parnell Street, a Chinese man verbally accosted him shouting death threats, other Falun Gong practitioners in Ireland had similar experiences that ranged from verbal to physical intimidation. They found their intimidators to be extremely threatening, violent and very irrational.
Mr Zhao talked about one man in particular who was excessively threatening, when he asked this person, "If you are that correct then why not speak about your opinions rationally", this seemed to calm the man who retreated swiftly there after, claimed Mr Zhao.
"According to reports from different countries this kind of thing seems to be a global action of the communist regime, It started from Flushing in New York. The World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, have a phone recording in which the Chinese Consul general Peng Keyu in New York admitted that he mobilised the violence personally."
Mr Zhao also mentioned that while they were at the Embassy two men were taking pictures of them from within their car, he said that the Garda from Donnybrook Garda station noticed them too.
Mr Zhao was concerned that these type of events were increasing in number, these occurrences were something that had never happened to any member of the Falun Dafa community in Ireland before.
Mrs Sharon Bellews, a reporter for The Epoch Times Ireland, was recently in Flushing, New York. She said she was taken aback with what she encountered there. There were hundreds of pro CCP Chinese supporters there and the atmosphere was intimidating.
Mrs. Bellews witnessed first hand an Epoch Times photographer being spat on in the face by CCP thugs and verbally berated. She could not understand the mobs over the top reaction to a peaceful protest, the fact that the Falun Gong supporters did not react seemed to drive the gang to a greater level of depravity as they shouted unrepeatable expletives.
Mrs Bellews said that she had never experienced anything like this before. She said that it made her think back to the civil rights movements in America and the troubles in Northern Ireland. She still, however, could not rationalise why this was happening and especially in New York, a city that welcomed people from all walks of life.
