SYDNEY, Australia—The mob violence against Falun Gong practitioners supporting a "Quit the CCP Centre" in Flushing, New York, is evidence that the Chinese Communist Party(CCP) is afraid of the mass withdrawals from its organisations says a former Chinese diplomat.
Speaking with The Epoch Times after he addressed an Australian rally supporting the 38 million Chinese who have quit the CCP, Chen Yonglin the former first secretary at the Chinese Consulate-General in Sydney said: "I think it means the Quit the CCP campaign is very successful. That is why they respond like they have and we should continue and we should never give up."
For several weeks from May 17, pro-Chinese Communist Party mobs attacked, threatened and intimidated Falun Gong practitioners in New York – especially those supporting the Quit the CCP centre in Flushing. Epoch Times reporters in the predominately Chinese area say at least seven communist supporters were arrested by the New York Police Department on charges of assault.
Mr Chen, who defected to Australia in May 2005, encouraged more people to put in further effort in assisting people withdrawing from the CCP.
"We should put more effort into the campaign of quitting from the CCP. The Chinese communist regime is quite scared of the expansion of the campaign," he said.
In mainland China, state-controlled media have been accusing overseas Falun Gong practitioners of blocking efforts to collect donations for the victims of the Sichuan earthquake—a claim for which they've so far presented no proof, and which appears to conflict with first-hand accounts of events in Flushing.
Spreading such propaganda Mr Chen says is usual practice for the China's Communists.
"That's a normal practice of the Chinese communist regime who always tries to use every disaster - they see it as a way of mobilising its force to strengthen its rule," he said.
"The Chinese Communist Party has been using these natural disasters to voice propaganda to make it seem like they have put a lot of effort in helping people," he added.
"Asking people to express their gratitude to the Communist Party – and don't allow people to condemn its serious mistakes," he said.
Falun Gong practitioners say the state media claims are yet another example of the CCP's incitement of hatred against them which underpins the brutality of the nine year long persecution of their peaceful Buddha-school practice inside China.
John Deller a volunteer from the New South Wales Falun Dafa Association told the hundred supporters at the Sydney 38 million rally held in the centre of Sydney: "For Chinese people to quit the Communist Party is a very healthy thing to do."
Mr Deller quoted the late Pope John Paul II in describing communism as being anti-humanity.
"And it surely is anti-humanity to be against human life, to be against human beings, and the qualities of being human, to torture and kill innocent people because they hold a belief in truthfulness, compassion and forbearance – that is the reality in China and it has been happening for nine years," he said.
