EDMONTON—The finale of Divine Performing Arts' Chinese Spectacular world tour came and went in Edmonton Wednesday evening at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
The delighted audience gave the performers a standing ovation. A fitting end for a tour which has put on over 200 shows across more than 60 cities world-wide with two tour groups.
"I thought it was fabulous," remarked machine operator Greg Gaudet. "I was completely caught off guard and really taken with the spirituality of it."
Gaudet said that the spirituality was something he enjoyed, "But you know it's called the Divine Performing Arts and I guess we start to think of divine as a word. A Hollywood word which means divine-wonderful. So it was pretty shocking to me that the true meaning of divine was being used here. I really, really enjoyed it."
He went into detail with what he felt was the spiritual side of the show.
"Oh, I guess the words for the songs. You know, they have the symbol for Falun Gong – truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. Those are the essential items that we should all try to find."
"At this particular time in my own life, certainly they have certain meaning for me."
Gaudet also said that he was somewhat lucky to be able to see the show at all.
"I wasn't supposed to be here, you know? About 45 minutes before the beginning of the show a friend phoned me up and it turns out they had a spare ticket. He said that he'd pick me up if I get ready in time. And I said well, maybe, you know? A show? I'll give it a try."
