HUNTSVILLE, Alabama—The Chinese Spectacular's final American performance amazed this, as any other audience throughout the world. The two companies traveled to over sixty cities to bring a different face of China to the people, and to let them be part of the revival of ancient traditional Chinese art.

The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) Company artists were delighted to have Ken Efleger, a defense contractor, his wife Laurie and their daughters Tabitha and Tania in the audience at Huntsville's Von Braun Center.

DPA's artists hoped to bring to the West a part of China that was lost during China's Cultural Revolution and found their efforts not wasted after hearing the responses from audience members in different countries.

"Awesome, I thought it was incredible. The colors were lovely; it seemed like it was effortless of them to do all that. In comparison, when we come here for American ballet, I mean you can see they are working hard and it just… they just moved so fluidly—it was beautiful, the colors, the action," said Laurie.

Tabitha, the younger of the two girls favored the 'Nymphs of the Sea' and said, "I like the scene where they used the fans as water. Those were nice."

The family had moved to Huntsville from Texas. They had not heard of the show. They moved near the theater and father Efleger said, "We are glad that we live close enough to a theatre to see shows on a regular basis."

Many people in the audience wanted to let the staff know that they loved the show, among them Norma Short and Betty Evans from Huntsville.

The two met a sales team back in March and could not resist buying tickets for the show.

"It was back in March, we were walking through the mall. There were two representatives that sold tickets. We looked at the advertisements and decided to buy tickets right there, so we had to wait two months!" said Evans.

Evans shared that they weren't that interested in China, but couldn't resist seeing the show. "It was just a spur of the moment [purchase]."

Short joined into the conversation and said, "Oh, I thought it was really fantastic and of course I liked the drums [in 'Drummers of the Tang Court' and 'Victory Drums']. That was fabulous. It was very graceful and different. And I'm sure they are very happy to be here in America to present this big art—it's a spectacular art crowd! It's really beautiful! I'm sure they are happy to be here [in Huntsville]."

Before the intermission ended Evans said, "It was really beautiful, the colors you know. We are really glad to have them in Rocket City USA."

The last show in Huntsville closed the final curtain after the audience honored the artists with a standing ovation. The people of Huntsville will not forget the Chinese cultural show for some time and will have a great conversation topic.
