CALGARY—On May 2, the last showing of the Chinese Spectacular , featuring the Divine Performing Arts, ended to the admiration and applause from a full house. After watching the Spectacular , Mr. Li exclaimed, "[The show is] extremely good, extremely good. The show has a strong righteous vibe and empowers people. I could feel the power of justice in both the vocal and erhu performances. The dances were pure and graceful, and their perfection makes it seem out of this world."

Mr. Li, who also watched the performance last year, added, "It is a real artistic joy. I hope the show becomes even better every year. I hope they can bring the performance to China, and I believe they can in the future."

Mr. Su Guo'an, Director of the Translation Center for the Calgary Board of Education, said, "I watched the show with a few friends in San Jose last year. Many new performances have been added this year, and it's better than last year." Mr. Su especially enjoyed the dances "Drummers of the Tang Court," "The Nymphs of the Sea," "Water Sleeves," as well as the vocal performances.

Mr. Su added that he could sympathize with the dance "The Risen Lotus Flower." He said, "I'm a native of Chaozhou. In 1949, I left China for Vietnam. In 1979, I once again left the Communist Party and came to Canada. I agree with the Canadian values, and there is no persecution here."

Mr. You, a pharmacist, came to the performance with his wife and daughter. Mr. You commented, "Tonight's show was very professional, and everything was perfect. I especially like the idea of introducing the classic Chinese stories such as 'Loyalty of Yue Fei' and 'Lady of the Moon' to people from all nations through dance." "My Canadian-born daughter was has never heard those stories before, but she understood them through the dances tonight and was very impressed by traditional Chinese culture." Ms. You said, "From here on out, I will learn more about Chinese culture and the Chinese language."

Mr. Qin and his wife recently came from China to visit relatives and were able to catch the Spectacular . They described the show as brilliant, special and shocking. The couple expressed that this is something they have never seen before and can't be seen anywhere in mainland China. "There is nothing that compares with this—nothing."
