Designer and Retired Dance Teacher Embrace 'Spectacular' Art and Message

EDMONTON—Designer Joan Zebko and retired dance teacher Joan Ward were extremely delighted with their visit to Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium Monday evening to take in the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular .

"Beautiful; beautiful costumes, I love the strength of the dancers, just wonderful," Ms. Ward said.

She said that she found the message of the piece, 'The Power of Awareness,' which depicts common citizens standing up against the persecution of Falun Gong, striking.

"The message is good, particularly the one with the little girl. You got the feeling they were trying to take her away and the goodness came out [in the spectators]."

"Freedom, freedom, freedom for the people!" interjected Ms. Zebko with her feelings as to what the shows message was.

Ms. Ward continued, "Some people got the message for fighting for what they want, and then people became stronger. It was a beautiful message, beautiful!"

She also had a lot of good things to say about the skill of the shows dancers.

"So professional. The dancers are so well trained, they're absolutely flawless. Just beautiful. Beautiful dance and beautiful technique; I would highly recommend it. It's beautiful."

Ms. Zebko agreed, "I think it's one of the most beautiful things I've experienced in months and months. I would recommend for anyone to come."

"It's very spiritually uplifting. I think the costumes and the dancing are just so inspiring for anyone. The story behind it, everyone would get the story."

"Everything is just… absolutely perfect evening," concluded Ms. Zebko.

The pair both agreed that they would definitely be seeing the Chinese Spectacular next year when it visits Edmonton once more.
