EDMONTON—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular received a standing ovation at the conclusion of its performance at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on the evening of May 5th.
Professor Mrinal Mandal of the University of Alberta and his wife were amongst the audience who thoroughly enjoyed the show. "This show is very spectacular. It's very nice from the beginning to the end… all the programs are very nice," he said.
"I attended the show last year and I was very impressed, so actually the moment I saw the announcement [of this year's show] I bought the tickets immediately… I did not want to miss it."
When asked what his impression was of the dancers and the live music Professor Mandal said: "The performers…looked really beautiful… the costumes are very nice, and the show is marvelous. The steps are… in synchronization. Very well [done] and the idea of the choreography is very nice."
Professor Mandal said that he didn't know much about Chinese culture but watching the show gave him a better understanding and the show did a good job of presenting Chinese culture for Canadians.
He felt that the Chinese dance was very well presented and he concluded: "I've been enjoying the show and I believe everyone else is also enjoying it, so I hope the show continues.
"I will come again next year for sure," he said
