MELBOURNE—The late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi has picked up best new female talent at the Logie Awards - which have been dominated by the Seven Network and the ABC.
Bindi, just nine, received the award for her ABC show Bindi: The Jungle Girl at Melbourne's Crown Entertainment Complex tonight, beating talent like Home and Away's Charlotte Best and Neighbours' Adelaide Kane.
It was one of seven wins for the public broadcaster which came second, with just one less gong than the Seven Network.
Seven, however, dominated the awards thanks largely to Home and Away.
The soapie won most popular Australian drama, while former actor turned presenter Kate Ritchie won the Silver Logie for most popular actress, and Lincoln Lewis picked up most popular new talent.
Ritchie is also the favourite to win the Gold Logie for a second year running after her 20 year stint on Home and Away, with the coveted gong to be announced later in the evening.
The ABC's Chris Lilley, who wrote, acted in and created the mockumentary series Summer Heights High, was a big winner.
Lilley picked up the Silver Logie for most popular actor, while Summer Heights High won most outstanding comedy program.
Other ABC wins included the Australian Story program on Belinda Emmett, who died at the age of 32 in 2006 after a long battle with breast cancer.
Seven's Kath and Kim - formerly on the ABC - won most popular light entertainment program.
The Bathurst 1000 coverage, Dancing with the Stars, Better Homes and Gardens, and the Garuda plane crash story were among other winners for Seven.
Serial Gold winner Rove McManus edged out Spicks and Specks' Adam Hills, Andrew Denton, Grant Denyer and Melissa Doyle to win the most popular presenter award.
Ten and Nine each scored two wins.
The awards ceremony celebrated 50 years of the Logies.
Glitz and glamour dominated the red carpet, while the ABC added its own touch, with the team from its program The Collectors arriving in a vintage gold 1925 Studebaker, the only one in the world.
This year's ceremony had 35 guest presenters, including actors such as Rose Byrne and Underbelly's Les Hill and Gyton Grantley, and singers including Dannii Minogue.
Irish pop group Westlife entertained the crowd.
Satirist John Clarke, who created Kiwi icon Fred Dagg and the comedy The Games, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
