ST.LOUIS, MO—May 1, 2008, the Divine Performing Arts completed its second central US show in St. Louis.. Ms. W, who has been in the US for only three months, enthusiastically spoke about her feelings of many acts throughout the Chinese Spectacular.
"The dancing is very beautiful and fantastic. I really like the dances showing the special characteristics of Chinese ethnicity." 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei' is a well known story and represents a spirit of our nationality – total dedication to one's country," she said.
'Drummers of the Tang Court' is very invigorating; 'Nymphs of the Sea' is very beautiful, and the water ripples on the stage gives one an aesthetic feeling. Although there is not a single drop of water the audiences can still feel the vastness of the water."
"Many young people today do not have any pursuits, they have lost themselves. 'The Fruits of Goodness' teaches one to be benevolent. This dance makes one positive and inspires people to move forward," Ms. Wang said.
Understanding Chinese Culture 'very meaningful'
"The programs are wonderful." Mr. Luo, from Mainland China said. He said that from an artistic view point, these performers are very professional—thave good skills, and have been well trained. "For example, the Tang drums displayed strong masculine characteristics."
Mr. Luo said that, after watching the Chinese Spectacular for the first time, he thought the show was wonderful and of a very high standard. The entire show promoted Chinese traditional culture and also incorporated the culture of minority groups.
"I should say that introducing China's ancient culture and history to countries outside China in the US thereby enabling more people to understand Chinese culture is very meaningful."
