St. Louis, MO-On the evening on April 30, 2008, the Divine Performing Arts made its debut at the Touhill Performing Arts Center, in the University of Missouri, in St. Louis. The 5000 year old Chinese tradition presented by the Spectacular touched the hearts of many overseas Chinese, making them feel as if they had returned home.
Peng Mingsheng, an agricultural biologist who migrated to the US from Nanjing, China, ten years ago, brought his son to the show on the 30th. Peng was very emotional after seeing the show. He kept repeating "Very Beautiful. The show was terrific." "I feel very close to the show, somehow it brought me home." Peng's favorite performance was the Chinese folk dance.
Peng kept praising the background projection, "Especially in the first item, 'Descent of the Celestial Kings', when the king of all kings was projected on the screen coming down from heaven on a horse, it assimilated with the dancers performing on stage. The strong visual effect that was created made me feel as if I was part of the story and was very touching." He said: "The momentum was tremendous and the scenes were very real."
Peng brought his son to the show too. He said that the show was good for the younger Chinese generation living overseas because it is hard for these children to see the traditional Chinese culture. "The Chinese Spectacular has a positive influence on young overseas Chinese in helping them to understand their culture."
