Having a sick child is difficult, but for mother Tessama Alleyne, supporting her son Kairi's battle with leukaemia was a call to action.
Alleyne, well known local concert promoter and daughter of Canadian Jazz legend Archie Alleyne, has many friends in the music scene in Toronto. "Kisses for Kairi" a fundraising concert to help with Kairi's needs, and in support of Hospital for Sick Children, is taking place June 1, 2008 at The Stone Grill, 51b Winchester Street.
The benefit will feature a 3 p.m. performance by the Archie Alleyne Jazz Trio. From 5-9 p.m. artists Millie Minas, Joni Nerita, Adam Bowman, Saidah Baba Talibah, Glenn Lewis, Chris Rouse, Carlos Morgan, Billy Alexander, Peter Miller, Kwanza Msingwana, Jeff Kearns,Greg Stokes and Dane Hartsell have prepared special song dedications to Kairi.
There will be a raffle and silent auction. Tickets are $50 and include dinner. Please call 416-967-6565 for dinner reservations.
