CALGARY—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular continues to captivate Calgary theater-goers during its run at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
After seeing the show on Thursday, Barb Pocha, an underwriter in the insurance industry, said it provides "wonderful insight" into the myths of Chinese culture and how Chinese "culture has grown."
"The music is so soothing and relaxing, every performance tells a story. The costumes are wonderful. It's really, really enthralling, I'm really enjoying it," said Pocha, who attended the show with a few colleagues.
Pocha also said that she enjoyed the "spiritual" aspect of the show.
"I think it's a very spiritual show, I think that it's telling us to look within ourselves and find the peace within, it's certainly a very insightful program," she said.
Pastor William, who has studied Chinese culture, also enjoyed the presentation of Chinese history and culture in the Spectacular.
"I think it reminds us that this culture is very, very impressive," he said.
William also said the show has messages of "peace" and "truth," which he called "wonderful."
After traveling to 65 cities on four continents, the New York-based Divine Performing Arts dance company will wind up its 2008 international tour with one more show in Calgary on Friday, one in Cleveland on Saturday and three in Edmonton from May 5 - 7.
