CALGARY, Alberta—The Divine Performing Arts dance company earned high praise from an accountant, a psychologist and other audience members after its second performance of the Chinese Spectacular Thursday evening at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

"I thought it was wonderful," said accountant Lynn Fletcher.

"It was very good. The costumes were beautiful, the set design was lovely…It gave some history, took you into a different world for sure."

Fletcher described the show as "very elegant and colorful" and said the choreography was "very fine".

Psychologist Gerrick Raju, who plays music as a hobby, said that he enjoyed the musical aspect of the show the most.

"It was good," he said adding that the he could easily understand how the show was illustrated.

Raju said that he would certainly see the show again.

Phillip Hawker described the Chinese Spectacular as "simply amazing".

"The costumes were just spectacular," he added.

"The dances were great. This is my first time at this show so it was a lot more than I expected."

"I was really impressed with it," he said.

Hawker said he couldn't find the words to describe the show but said that it was great and that he will be back to see it again next year.

"When you see it from a different culture how they view entertainment and dancing and instruments, it's just amazing and relaxing."

Sally Martindale, a Calgary resident, was particularly impressed by the cultural nature of the performances.

"I just loved it. I love all cultures. Just being exposed to a different culture I think is fantastic; it's great," she said.

"I love stuff like this, but this was really spectacular really—really spectacular."

After traveling to 65 cities on four continents, the New York-based Divine Performing Arts dance company will wind up its 2008 international tour with one more show in Calgary on Friday and three more in Edmonton from May 5 to 7 with one performance in Cleveland between the two runs.
