CALGARY, Alberta—The Divine Performing Arts staged its renowned Chinese Spectacular at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Thursday evening, delighting the audience with its portrayal of traditional Chinese culture.

"It is very good," said Cynthia Ho, an employee for the local electronic company Flextronics. "The costumes were very nice. The girls are beautiful. It was very artistic."

Dickson Lo, who owns a local auto service shop said, "I think it has been really good so far. Instead of travelling the world, you come to these kinds of the shows because the world will come to you."

"It is indicative of Chinese culture. You can find a lot of interpretation in dance itself. It is much like a dream state; you find your own interpretation."

Lo continued, "The thing I really like is the sort of the gossamer quality of all that flowing silk, it really transfixes your eyes. There is a very fairy tale [quality]. It is very fairy tale-like so that is quite pleasant to see how that ebbs and flows."

Ormarys Lucambrio, from Venezuela, currently working in an insurance office said that she especially enjoyed the two pieces, Victory Drums and Water Sleeves.

"It is different. I liked it. Sometimes I was like, wow you can do that? Especially with the fans," she said, adding that she would recommend the show to her entire family.
