Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of the Vietnamese-American Community of the U.S.A., and also the State of Florida, it is a great honor for me to be here today to express my opinions at Global Human Rights Torch Relay in Miami, Florida.

First I would like to congratulate The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of The Falun Gong in China for organizing this protest. Today we will send a strong message to the leaders and citizens of China who aspire for human rights and democracy, that if there are No Human Rights in China and Tibet or in Vietnam, There Shall Be No Olympic Games in Beijing.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to considerably abuse human rights against Falun Gong practitioners, underground Christians, the Uighur Muslims, Tibetan dissidents, democracy advocates, lawyers, reporters… with rampant political oppression, mass executions, forced abortions, illicit organ harvesting, and religious persecution.

Recently, the Tibetans are sending out a global non-violent cry for change, but violence is quickly spreading across Tibet and neighboring regions. Thousands of Tibetans have been captured by the CCP army and hundreds have been killed. The CCP regime is now considering using increasingly brutal methods against the non-violent struggle of the Tibetans, who simply request equal freedoms and human rights.

Hosting the Olympics is an honor that few nations are granted. China has been privileged to organize the 2008 Olympics in Beijing with the provision that the CCP will improve its deplorable record on human rights.

Contrary to their promises, the CCP has increased abuse of human rights—jailing people without trial, torturing, and murdering people in order to sell their organs for profit.

The Vietnamese American Community of the U.S.A. and in Florida, believes that if China is allowed to organize the 2008 Olympics, then the CCP must follow the principles expressed in the Olympic Charter:

Thousands of Tibetans have been captured by the CCP army and hundreds have been killed.

"Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on … respect for universal, fundamental ethical principles … with a view to promoting a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity."

The Olympics is a historic world event, where nations are given a chance to show-off national goals in civilization, culture, and the arts. Of course, this must include human rights against violence.

This is the best time for the Burmese, Tibet and Vietnamese people to protest nonviolently in their respective countries to let the whole world realize the evils and hypocrisy of the Chinese Communist Government and its puppet regimes.

The Olympics should be organized by democratic people living with the spirit of freedom, and not by a monolithic party like the CCP.

We suggest that leaders and people of the free nations put pressure on the Chinese Communist Party by sending these powerful messages:

If there are no human rights in China and Tibet and the many other countries oppressed by the CCP, then there shall be no Olympic Games in Beijing;

and,

The Olympics and crimes against humanity cannot coexist in China.

We can effect these historic messages. China does not care about its international resputation. But China's economy is totally dependent on the exports that consumers buy, that will fund the Olympics this summer.

"Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on … respect for universal, fundamental ethical principles … with a view to promoting a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity."

In addition to the stated boycott we request that:

1. Government leaders and the Olympic Committee stop sending the Olympic Teams to China (negating both the CCP and IOCC)

2. Government leaders relocate the 2008 Olympics to other city/country, such as Athens, Greece. (Thus negating the CCP without hurting the athletes and the Games), and

3. Government and business leaders do not sponsor or attend the Opening Ceremony of Beijing Olympics, to honor the Human Rights protests. On behalf of The Vietnamese-American Community of the U.S.A. and Florida, and the Alliance for Democracy of Asians in United States of America, which links together the Free Khmer, the Free Chinese, the Free Vietnamese, The United League for Democracy of Laos and so we will not have the conflicts in the South China Sea, Vietnam and China.

And ladies and gentlemen, call upon the United Nations and all peace-loving and justice-loving nations to use all means to pressure China to return these archipelagos to Vietnam

Together with China's support for the massacre in Darfur, China's support for the military junta in Burma, the violations of the human rights of China's own citizens, its occupation of the Paracel and Spratly Archipelagos, its invasion of Tibet and its repression of the Tibetan people, these are all evidence that China does not deserve the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games.

Ladies and gentlemen, for all of these reasons, we solemnly call upon the people of the world to boycott the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
