CALGARY, Canada—Audience member Hal Swartz, who attended the Chinese Spectacular at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary, enjoyed it very much, particularly the opening scene.

"That is one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen. It is just very, very impressive." Swartz said.

He also expressed his fondness for the unique, hand-painted 3-D digital backdrop screen which takes the audience even deeper into the splendour of traditional Chinese arts. Swartz has visited China several times.

"I've traveled close to 70 countries and I enjoy China more than any other country," he said. "I've been to China several times... Not that I care for the government but I love the people and the scenery, and I travel there a lot."

Of all the Chinese cultural aspects depicted in the show, he could not decide which one he liked most. "That's really hard to say because there are so many things about a show like this that I enjoyed."

Swartz's only regret was that he did not have a seat closer to the stage to see the finer details of the costumes. This was so particularly for the piece "Ladies of the Manchurian Court," in which the dancers wear unique shoes that have the heel placed in the centre of the sole.

Swartz said he would attend the Spectacular next year if he is not travelling.
