Foreign filmmaker Natasha Arthy presents a clashing of cultures as Aicha, a Turkish teenage girl living in Copenhagen, continues her love for martial arts and Kung Fu against the instructions of her strict Muslim father.
Her father loathes her practice of Kung Fu, as it appears to conflict with Muslim traditions. Her continued efforts to train against his orders create tension and then difficulty for her older brother whose engagement to a woman from a traditional Turkish Muslim family is jeopardized.
Cut with modern musical Turkish beats, the film follows Aicha as she attempts to fight her inner demons and fears, which manifest as a masked ninja she must fight throughout the course of the film.
Ultimately the film is dramatic and yet playful in a manner that masterfully navigates through touchy topics. It is amusing and entertaining, and the martial arts scenes choreographed by Xian Gao ( Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ) make the film worthy of its title.
