BUCHAREST, Romania—"The fact that I'm getting in contact with Chinese culture for the first time is an extraordinary thing for me," said Actor Gheorghe Birau after seeing the Tuesday evening performance of the Chinese Spectacular at Bucharest National Theatre.

"I saw that [the performers] came from far away to [be here with] us. [They displayed] an extraordinary warmth, a particular beauty."

"I was very impressed by the sensitivity, the color, the dance, and the music. I would like [the show to come here often."

Birau also remarked that he felt Divine Performing Arts was successful in their attempt to bring a renaissance of traditional Chinese culture.

"… This seems an extraordinary thing to me. Yes, I think that the attempt is good and I think that it must be done, and I think the result will be a positive one."

He also mentioned in passing, that if he were to describe the experience to a friend, he would describe it as, "I spent a moment relishing Chinese tea."

Another audience member, Florin Papagheorghe, was highly impressed by the portrayal of Chinese traditional culture.

"It's not the first show that I see with Chinese [dance] troupes, and anyway I'm very impressed by the life that gets [displayed] through this kind of art," he said.

"Actually, I think that in the moments when Europeans are depressed they need some contact with Chinese culture and with the people from there.

"Because they have always managed to find their balance no matter what happened. They've proved this for some thousands of years and I think that for us the Chinese arts are an unexpected source of balance, kindness and reconciliation."

"The show from today supports [these qualities]."

"I would say that it's an optimistic show in which universal values are promoted in a very sincere way. A way in which the Chinese common sense and their recognized time-tested skillfulness is presented and overwhelming you."
