BRISBANE, Australia—Brisbane's matinee performance of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular on Tuesday April 8, 2008 was attended by many families, and recommended highly by both parents and children. The Osbornes, a local Brisbane family, also came to see the matinee show.

"It's really enjoyable and worthwhile," said Anita Osborne, who came with her husband and two girls. "I loved the costumes, the dancing, and just the whole thing." Anita, her husband and two girls are from Brisbane's Inala — a "high migrant population" suburb, said Anita.

Caroline Osborne, a court reporter who recently returned from Hong Kong, was given tickets to the show as a birthday present from her nephew.

"My nephew and his wife said: "We'd like you to come as our birthday present, so this is actually our birthday presents — my birthday was last month and mum's is this month."

Caroline's mother, who practises Tai-Chi, said she loved the music. "All the girls are beautiful, they really are!" she exclaimed.

'It really is a Chinese Spectacular!'

Helen Harvey, a former dancer from the Glass House Mountains, came to see the show with her daughter who works as a lawyer on the Sunshine Coast.

"I actually saw it advertised on television in Sydney and I said [to my daughter]: "Wouldn't it be great to see that. Not thinking we'd get tickets because it was only here for two days, and next thing she rings up and says she's got tickets, so that was brilliant."

As a former dancer, Ms Harvey said that she could see the finer points to the performance. "Just to see how precise they are, it's wonderful, they're so elegant, and the scenery at the back of it. Wow!"

When asked how she would describe the show to her friends, Ms Harvey said: "It really is a Chinese Spectacular!"
