BRISBANE, Australia—"Incredibly beautiful! What did I think?…Oh, I need a moment to digest it, there was just so much there," said musician Deb Bond at the closing evening of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at the Brisbane Convention Centre on Tuesday April 8, 2008

Ms Bond spoke about the evening's performance. "Just a lot of colour and movement, and all the costumes and the, I guess the philosophies behind it all as well, it was just beautiful, yeah."

When asked if any acts especially moved her, Ms Bond spoke of the erhu. "Yes, the lady that played that little instrument [Mei Xuan, the erhu soloist, played 'Predestined Relationship']. I just didn't know it was possible to get that kind of playing out of [the erhu]. I absolutely appreciated it. Oh, it's amazing. Every note, every single note that she played was just totally dynamic. I'm a muso, so I was really there with it…her playing was absolutely amazing."

'very colourful and bright, and the precision of the dancers was very good'

Leah McCormick, a graphic artist, attended the Spectacular accompanied by friends Rashmi Bhagwati and Priya Raju. She said when asked about the Spectacular : "It's great, I really like it. Very, very graceful — excellent, excellent costumes."

When asked what stood out for her, Ms McCormick said: "The park scene, I think, where they were with the awareness coming out there; just the way they were fighting the oppression, I guess. That was strong. And also with the rising lotus flower ['The Risen Lotus Flower'], there as well. The drums, they were good too!

She said: "I do Tai Chi as well and I did see some similar kind of movements like Tai Chi in the dance."
