Design Student 'stunned' by 'Spectacular'

BRISBANE, Australia—Architecture student Ali Raphael was stunned by the Spectacular when he saw it on its last night on April 8 at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

"I was quite stunned actually, just by the whole...how it was put together — it all matched."

Mr Raphael, who is from the Maldives in the Indian Ocean, is completing a Bachelor of Design in Brisbane. He noticed the design details in the Spectacular.

"It was all very well choreographed, all very well put together. The costumes were amazing, incredible — the most beautiful costumes I have ever seen in a show of any sort.

It's a great coming together of skill, celebration and culture."

Mr Raphael said he had also gained greater understanding of ancient Chinese culture and how it has influenced modern dancing.

"I saw just how rich and wonderful, how the dancing, the celebration of life, celebration of stories, of a pre-modern China."
