BRISBANE, Australia—Dance enthusiasts, Pam and Keira Brennan saw the Spectacular in Brisbane on it April 8, its final night in tropical Queensland, and said Chinese dance had them intrigued.

"I love the way Chinese dance, the girls particularly can move without moving, [they] glide along. I have always loved that," said mother Pam.

Pam said she loved the drumming but also appreciated the content of the show.

"Its very interesting to see those legends and myths used in this way, and the blend of the old and the new."

Daughter, Keira, who has studied dance and ballet for many years, said she frequents dance performances of all types but was not so familiar with Chinese dance.

"We have been brought up with western ballet so we understand that much better."

Ms Brennan noticed noted that the producers of the show had already factored in Western audiences unfamiliarity with the Chinese Performing arts by explaining some of the intricacies through the show. Keira said she found the commentary on Chinese dance most helpful.

Both dance enthusiasts said they would like to see the Spectacular on its return to Australia next year.

Mrs Brennan said she would tell her friends to expect "something entirely different from what they are used to".

"Even though I have seen elements of this before it is still entirely different from any western show."

Architecture student Rebecca North, who was also at the Spectacular on the final night in Queensland, said she didn't know what to expect, but she was loving the show.

"It was colourful and creative, and it combined a lot of different styles of dance."

Ms North said it was "great to see the history behind China" and would tell her friends: "Definitely check it out."
