STOCKHOLM, Sweden—A warm and appreciative audience welcomed the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular's final performance at the Circus Theatre in Stockholm on Thursday.
The applause was loud and long for "Power of Awareness," a performance that shows people in China standing up for a child and mother who believe in truthfulness, benevolence and forbearance.
One elderly couple, Sven-Olof Lerdén, 82, and his wife Britte, 79, and said they were both surprised and happy after seeing the first half of the show.
"I remember overwhelming image impressions that get etched onto the retina, unbelievable precision in the dancing and excellent costumes," said Mr Lerdén, a former marketing director at quite a number of companies, including Johnson& Johnson.

Mrs. Lerdén said she was very impressed by the dancers. "It was surprising and even better than what I had thought. I have always been interested in dancing and ballet. There is all the reason to take part and be present every second, actually," she said.
Mrs Lerdén was given a flyer the day before the show and asked her husband to buy tickets. She said she thought it was nice to see a Chinese cultural performance since she has always wanted to go to China.
When asked what they thought about the Chinese Embassy's attempts to stop the show, Mr Lerdén replied, "That would have made us terribly disappointed."
Mr and Mrs Lerdén both said they would very much like to come and see the performance again next year.
The next stop on the European leg of the Divine Performing Arts tour is the town of Bucharest in Romania on April 7 and 8. A second performance group is currently touring Australia.
