SYDNEY, Australia—The audience at the final night of the Chinese Spectacular in Sydney reflected a cross-section of the Australian society.
Among them was Claire Herbert, from Foxtel, and her boyfriend Michael Martin, a software engineer. For Claire, the show was especially enjoyable, as it was her birthday present.
"I like the fact that it's a mixed show, rather than having the same type of performance, I like how it shows all different kinds of acts," she said. For her and Michael, the favourites were the 'Drummers of the Tang Court' and the 'Nymphs of the Sea'.
Opera and Drums Highly Regarded
Maya Nickols, who works in agecare, singled out the drummers as well, but also commended the opera singers, saying they were "fantastic". Her favourite was the 'Mongolian Bowl Dance'.
Mrs Nickols was impressed with the standard of the performers.
"They are very well rehearsed, perfection in all of them. Very good. Very high standard," she said.
'So graceful'
Also at the show were Chila McDermit and Albert Fribel. Both "loved every part of it", but especially impressive was the movement of the dancers.
"They are just so graceful and flowing in movement. Just incredible. This is absolutely fabulous. The standard is high."

'You get lots of positive energy'
Others in the audience, like Rozeta Helmerssom, were touched by the "positive energy" and harmony presented in the show. "I think it was great. Really nice. Lots of colours and the dance was beautiful. You get a lot of positive energy," said Mrs Helmerssom, who is visiting Australia from Sweden.
