SYDNEY, Australia—"The show was fantastic! Fascinatingly imaginative. The colours were stunning...[the] cultural insight was also," were the words of Adam Waterworth, after seeing the Chinese Spectacular on Saturday in its final showing at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
Mr Waterworth, who works as a finance officer, was stunned by the standard of the show, which he found informative of both ancient Chinese culture and contemporary China.
"For me, I didn't have any expectations about it, but I was completely surprised for the better.
"The Chinese culture — not to claim naivety—but I just wasn't that familiar with it, and I found it very informative."
When asked what his favourite part of the show was, Mr Waterworth immediately replied: "The drums". The Chinese drums, which are a favourite with many audience members, feature in 'Drummers of the Tang Court' and 'Victory Drums'.
As well as his appreciation of the drums, Mr Waterworth was impressed with the high calibre of the performers and choreographers, praising "the talent, plus the training — just an all-round good show."
To his friends, Mr Waterworth would say: "Definitely get along and see it."
