SYDNEY, Australia—"It feels like something that is very ancient, very old. You can feel the tradition coming through and the years and years of culture that is behind it all," said Timothy Boyce.
He was at the show on Saturday evening and said it was really good.
"The clothes have been amazing. The drummers have been really good as well. The music has been really good. It's been really interesting," he said.
He said you did not need to understand the Chinese language to enjoy the show. "I think the dance is sort of beyond language, you know. You can understand them through dance better than you probably would."
He said his favourite performance was 'Nymphs of the Sea'. "Yeah, I liked that one and I liked the drummers as well. That was very gung ho!"
His female companion said that the show was great.
"Well, I loved it a lot. Especially the costumes, because I make clothes part-time," she said.
She said she learned a lot more about Chinese history at the show.
Mr Boyce said that he could feel the history in the performances.
"I think what I said before about the use of history, that seemed to come through on stage. You can feel that there has been a lot of culture that goes into making this. It is not something that is just made yesterday. It has taken years and years to make," he said.
He said he thought Truth, Compassion and Tolerance were important universal values for human society. "I think it was a powerful statement with the dance about the Falun Gong and you could see the powerful statement being made there about compassion and doing what's right and that."
He said following Truth, Compassion and Tolerance would help restore morality in society.
"It is good that we put this forward in these sort of shows because, I mean, a lot of people can show this through dance. It gets to all these people tonight and they get to see it, and they take it home with them. And hopefully they spread it."
He said he thought everyone in the audience would take something different home with them from the show.
"I think one of the good things is that you take out of it what you can see out of it. I take something different to you and everybody else home tonight. But I think the main message that we all get is still the same. And so I think the dance is a good way to show that."
