SYDNEY, Australia—Dance school owner Vicki Clare was very impressed by the Chinese Spectacular on Saturday evening.

"I thought the show has been beautiful. I really loved all the costumes—they were just exquisitely beautiful," she said.

Ms Clare runs Plie, Groove 'n' Shuffle in Sydney. She was interviewed at the intermission and said she thought the dances were "incredible".

"The pattern and formation work of the dances was incredible—very creative by the choreographer. And I loved the use of all their backdrops. It was very clever and integrated the dances as part of the backdrop."

She said her favourite dance was probably 'Drummers of the Tang Court' at the close of the first half. "I don't know if that had a very particular story but that had a very high impact. It was very energetic and dramatic—I enjoyed that piece," she said.

She said she particularly enjoyed the choreography in the more classical performances.

"I am used to choreographing classical ballet. So a lot of those things, the story where they were in the jail, you know the really emotional journey that those girls took. I think something like that I have probably used before and that was lovely."

She said she was not that familiar with Chinese culture. "But I have enjoyed watching it and learning more about it." When asked one word to describe how she felt after seeing this much of the show, she replied, "Touched".
