SYDNEY, Australia—Connie Chang and her son Daniel Hong attended the matinee performance of the Chinese Spectacular at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Saturday afternoon to learn more about Chinese culture.

"We're sort of getting into Chinese culture a lot more now and [watching the show] I can understand the Chinese background and the history," said Ms Chang, who is an ethnic Korean.

"I can understand that you believe in ancestry coming from the heavens, so many of the performances were interesting. The concepts of Chinese culture are quite similar to those of Korean in a way, but slightly different. We believe in reincarnation from many myths and legends."

Ms Chang, who is the Asia-Pacific Regional Senior Manager for Fidelity International (the largest privately owned Fund Manager in the world), said that the 'Mongolian Bowl Dance' was her favourite.

"It was fantastic, they moved around a lot but their bowls didn't fall off their head, and that was quite good."

'Brings tears to your eyes'

For Norma Donaldson, a Herbal Life distributor from Sydney, the show moved her to tears.

"It was just absolutely magnificent. It really was. It brings tears to your eyes – it was so beautiful. I loved the gracefulness of the ladies dancing. And I loved the drums – that was really spectacular."

Ms Donaldson was very impressed by "the movement and the colour, and the tones" of the performance. It left her with a "very graceful, sort of peaceful feeling" and she encouraged other people to see the show too.

"It'd be sad not to see it," she said. "Something that's really just special. And you understand people. We do dancing a fair bit. And there's Asian people that love dancing. They love to move their arms where most of us don't. But when you see that, you can see that comes—it's sort of born in people."

"It was absolutely just beautiful."
