MELBOURNE—On the afternoon of March 30, Divine Performing Arts performed their fourth and final show in Melbourne. Mr. Huang, who came from China four years ago, attended Divine Performing Arts' performance last year and returned again for this year's show. Huang said, "I was impressed by last year's performce, so I came back this year. The traditional and historical aspects of the show were awesome. I thought it was great."
Huang remarked, "I feel fortunate to be able to watch such a program outside of China. The entire show was simply spectacular and will leave a lasting impression in the heart of every Chinese. Its portrayal of Chinese folk tales through music and dance was excellent. 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei' for instance, displayed an excellent example of filial piety and the 'Lady of the Moon,' a love story, also portrayed the idea of placing others before oneself. They all teach the principle of compassion. They are truly beautiful."
"Anyone who appreciates Chinese culture will enjoy this show. In the dances 'Chopstick Zest' and 'Tang Court Drummers' the male dancers perform with strength and spirit while the females dance with gentle and delicately beautiful movements. The show includes many traditional aspects of Chinese culture and really brings out the excitement in people. It is a great way to enjoy performing arts."
Huang says, "The righteousness really touches people. The programs about what is happening now is very beautiful. More and more people are able to accept the idea that truth and justice will prevail. I feel that such a show should be introduced to even more people. It's really a show for everybody, not only Chinese people."
He added, "I have a Western friend who called me yesterday right after he and his mother saw the first show. He said, 'I have to tell you, I was very touched. We all cried. I think that the general message of the show is about value of life. This kind of message is welcome no matter where you go."
At the end, Huang concluded, "The more you understand about traditional Chinese culture, the more the show will mean to you. However, even if you don't know very much, you will at least feel its wonder. I feel that a show like this, exposing westerners to eastern culture, is the pride of all Chinese people, and should receive support from all Chinese overseas."
