SYDNEY, Australia—On April 4 the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular performed at the Sydney Entertainment Centre for the third night. The audience members were warm and responsive and among them were people from mainland China.

Angela, a carer for the elderly, was one of them. She said: "During the performances I saw many of China's classical elements. It was great. Before I left China, there was nothing like this on the mainland. Although I cannot return to China very often due to the nature of my work, I know that it is very difficult to be able to see such a show.

"Those clouds, the backdrop, the stage—the way they were put together—I got the feeling of a heavenly paradise. The way the performance was carried out in 'Lady of the Moon' was something that I had never ever seen before. It was great.

"Yue Fei is our nation's 'hero of the people'. The show's ability to express Chinese history is truly great," she said.

Angela continued: "Within the performance, the men had the strength of men. Women had the gentleness of women. They were strong, yet gentle at the same time.

"The way the music and dance was combined really gave me the feeling of heavenly beauties floating. I could truly feel that. It is so different from all the shows I've seen before in mainland China. They weren't able to express the gentleness and elegance.

"The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular was really uplifting. The Spectacular displayed the purest things. Just as it is written in the Spectacular promotional material, the show displays the pure compassion and pure beauty of Chinese traditions. It is purely beautiful; it wasn't artificial."

Finally, Angela said: "I think the Westerners really love this too. The scenes, the performers, those performances are mesmerising. Everyone around me was Caucasian. I really liked that.

"The Chinese Spectacular is for everyone. It does not differentiate between cultural backgrounds—[everyone] can understand it."
