SYDNEY, Australia—For Mr Huang, a businessman from Mainland China, the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular was an "astounding" experience.

"Personally, I feel rather astounded. Such spectacular performances are beyond my imagination," he said after watching the show during the third night at Sydney's Entertainment Centre on Friday.

"I've always been interested in traditional performances and have seen a few shows before, but tonight's programme is something I have never seen before."

Mr Huang was impressed by the artistic richness, which "blew him away". "It is a rare opportunity to watch classical Chinese dance shows and today's experience is so different from what I had expected - so beautiful," he said.

He particularly noticed the contrast between the male and female dancers.

"Every act has been very impressive. 'Drummers of the Tang Court' just blew me away. The drumming expressed the masculinity of the male...'Nymphs of the Sea' is another one,[it] captured the beauty of the female femininity."

Mr Huang was also deeply moved by the scenes that depicted the plight of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

"From watching these performances, one comes to different levels of understanding about Falun Gong, a completely new insight into the matter."

"I feel like something is overthrown. The first impression I got was: 'So that's what it really is!'"

The Spectacular contrasts the ancient beauty of China's 5000-year civilization—portrayed through elegant dances and legends—with the modern suppression of traditional beliefs under communist rule.

The businessman, who is currently visiting relatives in Australia, explained that in China people have "long been exposed to and influenced by the one-sided propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party".

He said coming to Australia has been a valuable experience to "be able to see the truth" and gain "first-hand understanding".

"When I am here, it's me, myself [who can] go and seek the truth, whereas in China messages are forced upon you."

"After I came here, things became so clear, real and tangible, out in the open and before your eyes — it's no longer a matter of what you choose to believe and disbelieve. When the truth is before your eyes, you cannot turn away."
