SYDNEY, Australia—A Filippino family found deep meaning in the Chinese Spectacular during its second performance at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Thursday April 3.

Mr Milan Acasta, the father of the family, was moved by 'The Risen Lotus Flower', and it made him want to learn more. He said: "With the three ladies being persecuted in jail, it's quite obvious. One of the ladies, she obviously was standing up for her own rights, defending the other two prisoners, and therefore it caused her death.

"I think the belief was that she would be…sent to heaven, and…they portrayed that. It makes me want to read more about the background of the whole show and Falun Gong, so I guess we'll have to be reading about that later on to be filling all the gaps in.

"I mean, all these dance movements...play a message. The body movement, the choreography, it's very effective."

Referring to other parts of the performance, he said: "In terms of the story, I don't quite understand it, but just watching the dance movements you have an idea. You can feel the emotion that comes out from the dance..."

"The show is spectacular… I really enjoyed it [and] my parents are enjoying it," said Mr Acasta, also noting that it was his first exposure to Chinese singing.

Mr Acasta's mother Ingrid was similarly touched. She thought the show's inner meaning was relevant to her and her belief in God.

She was also captivated by the dazzling special effects of the 3D background, which was synchronised with the dances.

"I liked the part when they played the drums because it's hard to dance and play the drums at the same time [and] rhythm..."

Mrs Acasta, a schoolteacher, said she would love to come back and see the show. She adored the costumes and the presenters. "And also the part where the waves are flowing – it's really like imagination, when they move those fans, it's just like a big wave — it's really good. It's just like traditional Chinese when they do the dancing; they are trying to show about the old traditional Chinese and their way of life."

"Most of it was in relation to nature," she said.
