VANCOUVER—Many people from all walks of life came to the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at the Surrey Bell Performing Arts Centre in Vancouver on April 26. Some shared their impressions of the show.

Kathleen Lee, a retired civil servant, came to the show because she has an Asian background and is interested in learning more about Chinese history and culture. She said, "Being Oriental, I was interested in the culture and the past, the dancing, and the music—I love music."

Kathleen loved the whole show and found it difficult to decide on her favorite performance, she said, "They were all so beautiful and graceful, you know, and it was just unbelievable." When thinking about the dances she said, "I liked the drums … and the fans—I enjoyed the whole show."

This was the first time Irene Denafa, from Vancouver, had had the opportunity to see the Chinese Spectacular. She said, "It's wonderful. The colors are beautiful and the movements are very graceful and fluid and almost like a ballet. I like it very much. I think it is the colors and how graceful everybody is—the way they move."

When asked if she would recommend the show to others she said, "Absolutely".

Oden Habdrea, a student from Germany, received a flyer advertising the Chinese Spectacular. She had never heard about the Divine Performing Arts but decided that she would not miss this opportunity and would recommend the show to others. When asked which performance she preferred, she found the decision difficult to make but said, "I like best the drummers."

Mrs. Martin was able to see the Chinese Spectacular in 2006 and wouldn't have missed the chance to see it again in 2008. Mrs. Martin loved the performance in 2006; however, she was overwhelmed by this year's performance: "This year is even more beautiful. It is marvelous this year—the drummers, the dancing."

After traveling to over 60 countries on four continents, the New York-based Divine Performing Arts will wind up the Canadian leg of its 2008 international tour with shows in Calgary from April 30–May 2, and in Edmonton from May 5–7.
